General information

The seminars are organized annually by the Nordic Association of Computational Mechanics and cover all fields of computational mechanics. The seminars, which circulate between the Nordic and Baltic countries, offer a meeting place for academics and practitioners from the participating countries, as well as from other countries. The atmosphere has been friendly and creative. The first NSCM was held at Chalmers in 1988; thus NSCM20 commemorates this occasion. NSCM20 will consist of five invited lectures of 30 minutes each and contributed presentations of 15 minutes each including discussion. Contributions from graduate students are particularly welcome. The official language of the seminar is English.

Topics of the seminar

The scope of NSCM20 includes, but is not restricted to, the following topics:

  • Structural mechanics
  • Fluid dynamics
  • Dynamics and wave propagation
  • Material mechanics including multiscale modeling
  • Industrial applications
  • Biomechanics
  • FE-techniques including adaptivity
  • Fracture mechanics
  • Optimization
  • Stochastic methods

We also invite anyone to propose and organize a mini-session during NSCM20. So far the following mini-sessions are announced.
