Movies

Two movies showing the response in multiaxial high cycle fatigue.

  • The first movie shows the response in proportional multiaxial loading. From top-left to bottom-right, the different figures show
    • the ampltude of the principal stress components (o) and the principal deviatoric stress components (x) as a function of time
    • the stress path drawn in stress space with the three principal deviatoric stresses on the axes
    • The hydrostatic stress as a function of time
    • The von Mises effective stress as a function of time

  • The second movie shows the response in general loading of the stresses acting on a shear plane. The arrows denote the normal vector, n (dashed), the traction vector and the shear stress vector. During the stress cycle, the tip of the shear stress vector will form a closed path (see Fatigue a survey - appendix 1)

  • If there are problems viewing the films, please drop me a line.
